This photo album, "Antennas and Satellite Dishes," is a personal exploration of the often-overlooked beauty and quiet grandeur of satellite dishes and parabolic antennas. These structures, silently reaching out to the cosmos, have always fascinated me. More than just technological artifacts, they represent our enduring quest for knowledge and connection, a desire to understand our place in the vast universe. From solitary rural installations to sprawling communication hubs, each image attempts to capture the unique character and atmosphere surrounding these antennae.

The project isn't about perfect technical execution, but about conveying a sense of wonder and the subtle poetry of these often-industrial landscapes. It's about finding the unexpected in the mundane, and appreciating the stark beauty of these man-made objects against the backdrop of sky and earth. It's a journey through a landscape of signals, of whispers from the stars, and the human ingenuity that allows us to hear them.

• Camera & Lens: Predominantly shot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and a variety of lenses including the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM and the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM. These combinations allowed for both wide contextual shots and detailed close-ups, crucial for showcasing the scale and intricate details of the satellite dishes.
• Lighting Challenges: Working with natural light was a key aspect of this project. Often, the most compelling images were captured during the "golden hour," utilizing the warm, directional light to accentuate the textures and forms of the antennas. Overcast days presented a different challenge, requiring a careful balance between capturing detail and preserving the mood.
• Geographic & Historical Context: The locations varied widely, from remote mountaintops to industrial parks. Some sites were relics of the Cold War era, imbued with a sense of history and technological ambition. Others were modern facilities, reflecting the ongoing evolution of communication technology. Understanding the historical context of each location informed my approach to photographing it.
• Photographic Style & Technique: My aim was to create images that are both visually striking and subtly evocative. I employed a combination of documentary and fine art techniques, focusing on composition, light, and shadow to create a sense of depth and atmosphere. The goal was to capture not just the appearance of the satellite dishes, but also the feeling of being in their presence.
